A snowy cabin with one bed? That’s only the first step toward Gideon falling in love.
Gideon is too old to be fought over at Christmas by divorced parents who should know better. The prospect of a Christmas on his own is better than having to face either of them. When Rowan hires him for a wintery break in Maine, it seems like a safe choice until his PA’s meddling family shows him something entirely new: Love.
Rowan hiring his boss for a trip back to his moms’ place for Christmas sounded like a good idea at the time. Killing two birds with one stone, he can cheer up Gideon and possibly steal a kiss under the mistletoe. After all, he’s been hiding his attraction to the man for years, and maybe with some Christmas magic, he can help Gideon see what is right under his nose.
My Review: I generally only read a couple of Christmas stories each year… I’m one of those grinchy people that can only do “so” much Christmas spirit! I’m glad this was one of the books that I chose. 2020 has been a challenging year and this book was exactly what I needed.
This is the best kind of love story. Rowan is Gideon’s personal assistant. He loves his job and he’s really good at it. More than that, he enjoys being with his boss. Even though they have a strictly professional relationship, Rowan would definitely take more if it was on the table.
Gideon has lost a husband in the past. It broke his heart and left him in a place at which he isn’t even sure that he believes and/or wants another person in his life. He goes along… of course, he does … because he harbors secret feelings for Rowan and loves spending time with him.
One of the best parts about this book is the joy that comes from Rowan’s adoptive family! there are some adorable characters in the book. I loved the chaos and happiness that the authors captured of a holiday season with a big family! Dogs and children and too much drinking and tons of food! It took me right back to my youth and big family get-togethers.
I loved the feel of this book… it’s warm and cuddly, funny… there’s hardly any angst at all. The characters throw themselves into the relationship without much concern about their professional relationship yet still being clear about consent. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
