REVIEW: Ready For You by Crystal Lacy

The Official Description: After mistakenly kissing a straight guy, Reggie expects Shohei to run the other way—not continue their fledgling friendship like nothing happened. Now if only Reggie can stop thinking about how Shohei’s lips tasted.

Shohei has never thought of himself as anything other than straight, but he can’t seem to forget the kiss he shared with Reggie. When Reggie volunteers to help him experiment with his newfound curiosity, he doesn’t resist the temptation.

It’s just a little bit of experimenting between friends, right?

Just the facts:  M/M romance, “gay for you”, cute and minimal angst

A “gay for you” romance minus a lot of the usual angst! – Kinzie Things

My thoughts bit: This book was a syrupy-sweet story full of standard romance tropes. Reggie meets Shohei at a gaming night set up by some friends. (Previous characters from books 1 & 2 in the series). He’s interested immediately and they have a lot in common. On their first meet up… Reggie kisses Shohei… misinterpreting Shohei’s interest. He’s straight and has just broken up with his girlfriend.

Both men are open to being friends in spite of their awkward encounter… and Shohei already has inklings of feeling attracted to Reggie. He has never had feelings for other men… exclusively women…but he feels something he can’t quite define for Reggie.

Soon the men are agreeing to “experiment” with each other as Shohei sorts out what he’s feeling, what he likes and what he might want. They agree to it being a casual thing with no strings involved. Naturally, that doesn’t work out as both men begin developing feelings for one another. There are a few speed bumps along the way but this book has minimal angst.

I have to say that my favorite in this series was book 2: Change For You. Stephen and Max appear a few times in Ready for You so it was great to see them again!

The warnings bit: Please be aware, I’m by no means an expert on what may or may not have the potential to disturb people. I simply list things that I think a reader might want to be aware of. In this book: (SPOILERS) confrontation between an ex-girlfriend and new boyfriend
