Dear Writers: I want Sheriff Jody Mills Back On “Supernatural”

I did something today I never thought I would do. I wrote to the writing team of a television show. In spite of the fact that my husband will mock me endlessly, I feel good about it.  It’s going in the mail box on my walk home.

I watch “Supernatural”. I love the show and, for the most part, I love its characters. My one criticism is that the female characters never live very long.

When “Sheriff Jody Mills” was introduced in “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” in 2010 I rejoiced. Kim Rhodes grabbed the character and gave it all she had. Sheriff Mills was great! Mills is a strong woman. She makes mistakes, she cries, and she kicks ass. She carries a gun.

Mills was exposed to a crazy amount of monsters and evil all at once and she didn’t lose it. In fact, she cowgirled-up and pitched in to help Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) bring his brother home. How is that not amazing?

I want Sheriff Jody Mills back on “Supernatural”. She doesn’t have to be in every episode and don’t, for a moment, think I want her to replace Bobby (Jim Beaver). She’s a kick-ass character all on her own and she’s armed with a badge, a gun and a “mom voice.”

She’s the only female character I’ve ever been able to relate to on “Supernatural” and I want her back.

I want Sheriff Mills back so much that I sat down and wrote a letter (by hand, I might add) asking that the writers bring her back. I’m seeing other actors being announced for upcoming episodes and so far, no Kim Rhodes. That just won’t do for the Season 8 that I was hoping to see.  Please writers of “Supernatural”, bring back my favorite female character.

If you feel the same here is where you can send a letter.

If twitter is more your thing let Jim Michaels (Co-Executive Producer)  know what you’re thinking.  He’s very friendly and interacts with fans regularly

Or just drop Kim Rhodes a tweet.

  1. I think Jodi Millz would make a great character, taking the place of Bobby. She has the law connections, Plus she already knows what the boys are about.
