When I bought my bike I decided that by October of 2012 I wanted to be able to ride 20 km. I did that today! (If you have confetti please throw it now!!) For many people that would just be a normal bike ride but for me, it was a challenge. I have no cartilage in either knee and I can’t walk more than a couple hundred feet at a time.
I can ride my bike for 20 km.
Today was nice and cool, we just managed to arrive back at the car before the rain started again. It was a great ride. I find the hills a lot easier now. At first I was struggling a bit with the gears and myself HAH.
I do have one problem. Every time I see a baby marmot I screech to a halt. Joel says I need a t-shirt that says “I brake for marmots” (or at the very least, brake lights.) I’m hoping that as the marmots get older my desire to leap off my bike to pet them will also diminish.
heh – one funny thing. I rode under some trees and picked up a hitch hiker. There was a very confused small gree caterpillar walking along the top of my sunglasses. Imagine, you’re just minding your own business in a tree and suddenly WHAM you’re flying along on a bike!
Oh! and remember the little boy we spoke to in the backyard – the one who we were worried may drown in the pool? We went that same route today and the ladder was removed from the pool!!!! YAY! We accomplished something. Hopefully that little boy will grow up healthy and happy.
One more thing. If it weren’t for the fact that Joel (my husband of 14 years) goes with me – and encourages me – and is patient and FREAKIN’ AWESOME – well, yeah 🙂 You get the idea. I love him – and my bike 🙂
Oh and Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful Dad who is on an Alaskan Cruise! I love you dad 🙂
